Bus Stop Book Bench

The Bus Stop Book Bench was the first of a series of interactive book stations created for the Lawrence Avenue bindery. A refurbished, three-seat wooden student bench built with individual writing tablets was used to house three separate books. Each book had question prompts written on their covers such as Who are you? and Where are you going?

During Community Binding hours, the bench would be placed in front of the storefront for passersby to respond to the prompts. A pen hung on a string attached to the bench. New blank books would be switched out as they became filled with drawings and writings in response to the questions.

Though the bench no longer exists, it created the first iteration of the interactive stations and served as the model for all of NBP's Response Books, including the Everything on Wheels project.
